Fall Tablescape Styling

When it comes to this time of year, there are many questions that our customers ask when it comes to styling a fall table.  Here are a few of our favorite tips.

Choose a Color Scheme
Start with one base piece - it can be your china, water glasses, linens, or even a vision you have for your floral/greenery - and build your tablescape around it. We knew we wanted to incorporate a beautiful Magnolia and Seeded Eucalyptus Garland from Gracious Garlands on our table, and this in turn inspired all of the other elements on our table. The muted green tones of the greenery paired well with our Reversible Gold & Silver Grain Table Runner
Incorporate fresh elements
In addition to our fresh greenery, we placed a golden Bosc pear at each place setting adorned with a soft gold ribbon. To accent the pear further, you could tie a place card with your guest’s name in gold ink to the stem of the pear.
Layer old/new and high/low pieces
We can't say it enough: if you are lucky to have heirloom china, silver, crystal, etc..use it! We promise that your Grandmother would be happier that you're putting it to use rather than leaving it to collect dust in your cabinet.  With that being said, don't be afraid to mix old/new and high/low pieces.  It doesn't matter if the vintage water glasses you picked up at that estate sale were $10 or $100-they'll add character to your newer wine glasses.  Some of our favorite finds have been bargain buys-our small white pumpkins were a Hobby Lobby find!
Get Creative
What catches our eye at dinner parties is the unexpected.  We got creative with our Small Silver Dove Bowls by transforming them into candle holders-simply fill 2/3 of the way with dried lentils, then nestle a votive candle inside.  We love the variation in candle heights that this brought to the table.
Echo elements throughout your dining space
You can extend the look and feel of your tablescape throughout your space by echoing elements. We arranged fresh magnolia boughs on the buffet behind the dining table to complement its greenery, and incorporated wreath sashes in the same fabric as the table runner on faux wreaths placed on the dining room doors. You'll also spy a vintage green glass bowl on the buffet that echoes the green water glasses we used on our table.
