Meet Betsey Mosby- Fig & Dove Holiday Tastemaker
What are some of your favorite Fig & Dove items?
I have 2 sets of acrylic stocking holders for my house--one for my mantle in our living room where I have our stockings that Santa fills, and another for my dining room where they hold more decorative stockings from Fig and Dove as decoration. They are the perfect accessory as they are not only functional but also beautiful, and let the stockings take center stage!!
Speaking of Stockings, I love our Fortuny stockings from Fig and Dove!! I use Fortuny frequently in my design work, so incorporating them into our Holiday Decor is seamless!! Several of my clients have them as well—I love how their texture adds an elegant edge, and hate taking them down when the season is over!
Another favorite moment from the Holiday Collection are the monogrammed wreath sashes! In the south we monogram everything, and I love the pop of red or green the monogram adds on an otherwise simple, elegant decoration. Having the opportunity to swap the sash on your boxwoods makes for a fun way to mark the seasons! We swap ours straight to Mardi Gras when the Christmas Season has passed. I also have a few Fortuny sashes I use on interior wreaths as well, to tie back into my stockings and create an understated effect!!
What is your favorite entertaining hack during the holidays?
I love entertaining and we love to have friends, family and coworkers over for dinner for different events throughout the season. However--I am NOT the best cook so I'd say one hack is that I spend my prep time setting my table and decorating my house, and less time cooking by purchasing some of the sides rather than cooking and plating them beautifully alongside the home made items!! I commonly use my Annieglass, Christmas China and pieces from my Grandmother's Sterling Silver Collection to host. Just like our designs, I think it's important to mix metals and collections to craft a truly beautiful and interesting tablescape. I focus on pieces that are special to me and introduce something slightly different year over year to keep things interesting! Last year, I loved incorporating Dixie Design place cards, an India Amory green table cloth and my Fig & Dove monogrammed Ivory Table Runner to make a special table! This year I've already ordered some special Leontine Linens that I can't wait to use at my starting point...never too early to plan!
What is one of your family's favorite holiday tradtitions?
We love so many different traditions during the holiday! We always get our christmas tree on the way back in town from spending Thanksgiving with our families and love getting it up and our decorations out early each year! Throughout the holiday season, we look forward to a mother daughter tea hosted by one of my best friends each year, a Christmas Eve party next door at my in-laws house for family and close friends, and spending several days at my parents relaxing the few days after Christmas. The past few years we've enjoyed hosting lots of friends for New Years Eve at our house, which is the perfect way to end the season and start the new year. We also always try to sneak in a little beach trip around this time of year, which is another of our favorite traditions and getaways!
What is your go-to hostess gift?
I love customized holiday napkins and also usually select one of my favorite coffee table books from the year to leave with hosts! Another fun idea is a beautiful ornament which I think is something anyone can appreciate! I also love the Acrylic Doves and Cardinals and think they are the perfect gift for a hostess or for year-round gifting. I stocked up last year and gave the doves for lots of special occasions, from baby christenings to first Married Christmas! I gave the cardinal to several friends that had lost loved ones, and think they are a beautiful way to let someone know you are thinking of them!
