The Secret Formula for Setting the Perfect Table

A tried-and-true formula for pulling together the perfect table setting, every time!

Choose the colors/shades you want to focus on, and then weave those throughout your table and room. One year for Christmas I picked up some beautiful beautiful thistle from my local florist. It accented the lavender shades from my Fortuny Simboli Christmas stockings, and pulled in the blues of my cool gray dining room.

Don’t feel like you’re chained to using your grandmother’s silver with her matching china. Try adding in a more modern gold flatware to pick up on other metallic accents on your table.

There’s just something about fresh flowers and greenery that brings a table to life. It shows your guests that you’ve set this just for them – whether it’s a small bunch of flowers or greenery picked right out of your garden, or a larger arrangement for a formal dinner. One of our best kept centerpiece secrets is using potted plants, like hydrangeas. They already have that perfect rounded shape that we always work so hard to achieve when arranging flowers!
