New Orleans artisan, Kaki Foley, is known for her one-of-a-kind sculptural creations and her ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. When our Creative Director and founder, Colleen Waguespack, recently designed a nursery for the Ivy Showhouse, she knew that one of Kaki Foley's whimsical sculptures would be the right note for a room that would capture the imagination of a child and create storybook memories for a lifetime.
“We have successfully collaborated with Kaki Foley on numerous Colleen Waguespack Interiors' projects, and this nursery was no exception. I love how this beautiful sculptural nest brings three-dimensional art into the room. Kaki incorporated little butterflies and eggs to give it a whimsical and childlike touch.” Colleen
We first introduced our customers to Kaki two years ago when we displayed one of her nest sculptures as a Christmas tree topper in Colleen’s home. Each nest is made using Kaki's signature style of decoupage, found materials, and creative accents and can be displayed in countless ways. From tabletop to a focal point on a wall, to the top of your tree, they are a unique and decorative accent that bring the natural world into your home.
"I am enchanted by the natural elegance of the twist of a branch as well as the story that emerges from the papers when I cover some of the sticks. The shine of metal leaf or a crystal left over from an antique chandelier add to the magic of the nest. I find this blending of nature and statements from our lives through recycled materials such as paper, fabric and charms made from discovered treasures to be magical. The nests come alive with their wonderful shadows once hung on the wall." - Kaki Foley, Tattered Designs
Each Nest Sculpture is made-to-order, with a lead time of eight weeks, and is an individual work of art. Both styles can be found at www.figanddove.com.
