Holiday Tastemaker: Jessica Farnan with Jessica Love Design

We are bringing back our Holiday Tastemaker Series and are excited to have Jessica Love with Jessica Love Design kick it off for us! We have long admired her work, especially this dining room and her mix of antiques, modern furnishings and of course her use of our favorite accent color-chartreuse!

Fig & Dove was originally created to fill the void that existed as designers struggled to find tasteful holiday décor for both their client's homes as well as their own. As we gear up for the holiday season, we are excited to visit with some of our favorite friends in the industry to find out how they prepare their own homes for the holidays and see what Fig & Dove items are on their wish list!

What is your favorite entertaining secret, trick or specialty during the holiday season?

I start organizing my holiday table many days in advance of hosting the meal. I determine where and how each dish is going to be used and then I place a post-it inside to identify which food will be going in which dish. It makes day-of preparations a breeze.

What is your go-to hostess gift?

I like to give a decorative diffuser; it is a much-loved gift that can be used all over the house and refilled throughout the year. My favorite brand is the Zodax Illuminaria Porcelain Diffuser in Gardenia.

What is a recipe your family and friends look most forward to each holiday season?

My family makes this bourbon punch recipe throughout the holiday season. It's super easy and a real crowd pleaser!

A fifth (750ml) bourbon

1 bottle (2 liters) ginger ale

1 can frozen limeade

2-3 limes, sliced

You may want to double the recipe because one batch is never enough. CHEERS!

What is the one tradition you and your family talk about the most?

One of our favorite family traditions is "the ringing of the bells" during Christmas Eve dinner.  Before dinner, I place reindeer bells under one of the seats.  After we toast, whoever finds the reindeer bells shares a wish for the new year and then rings the bells. The bells are then passed to the next person until everyone around the table has shared his or her wishes!  It is a great way to bring the group together and fun for kids and grownups alike.

What brings you the most joy during the Christmas season?

Bringing family and friends together to honor our holiday traditions and creating new ones that will hopefully be passed down for generations to come.

Jessica Love's Fig and Dove Favorites

Fortuny Richelieu Christmas Stocking

I was recently in the Fortuny showroom in New York City and their renowned artistry lives up to the hype. This gorgeous custom made Fortuny fabric stocking is as special as the gifts inside and will definitely become a family heirloom.

Three-Tier Ombre Acrylic Tassel

Adding a decorative tassel to drawer pulls or door knobs is an easy way to embellish any piece of furniture and this Three-Tier Ombre Acrylic Tassels in silver or gold brings a festive feel to a fun accessory.

Acrylic Photo Frame

These acrylic frames make updating photo displays a breeze. I am going to use them to showcase this years' holiday cards, as well prior favorites, during the season and then switch back to family photos after.

Sculptural Bowl

Some of my favorite ornaments are too delicate to hang so instead I display them in a grouping in a bowl on a table. This organic sculptural bowl is a great showcase for treasured objects all season long.

Chartreuse Ribbon

This chartreuse color is a fun, fresh infusion into the traditional red and dark green holiday scheme. I can't wait to see all the gifts under the tree with this ribbon!
