How To Set A Memorable Holiday Table
The holidays are a time for gathering and tradition. For many, these cherished holiday traditions involve gathering around a table scape and sharing a meal with loved ones. Whether you are a host or an attendee, having a large dinner party or a more intimate gathering, everyone can appreciate a spectacular tablescape that makes them feel celebrated!
Founder of Fig & Dove and interior designer, Colleen Waguespack, shares her expert advice on how to set a creative and thoughtful holiday table where you and your guests can eat, drink and be merry!
Silver is key.
According to Colleen, silver is a versatile, key element in terms of taking your table to the next level. While adding water goblets and candlesticks will bring wonderful shine into the mix, she often goes a step further by repurposing a sterling silver champagne bucket as a vase for her centerpiece and placing votives in vintage sterling Champagne flutes arranged down the center of the table for extra sparkle.
Our large Silver Dove Bowl - perfect for chilling champagne, setting in the center of your table or displaying in your kitchen - as well as our collection of Olivera Stainless Steel Serving Pieces are great for adding some shine to your holiday table.
Color me chartreuse.
Who says you have to limit your holiday decor to red and green? Getting creative with different hues of red and green or even non-traditional Christmas colors will make your table-setting memorable to your guests. Colleen gravitates toward a slightly unexpected shade of green when setting hers. “Chartreuse is my go-to neutral that pairs well with ivory and evergreen."
Personalize each place card.
Colleen says personalizing each guest's place setting to make them feel welcomed can easily be done with place cards. “I like a place card with a sentiment about the person, a nickname, or a question on the inside." Get creative, and make your guests feel special!
