Artisan Collaboration: Jane Adams of Paprika Home

At Fig & Dove, we deeply appreciate artisan-made products and believe they add depth and uniqueness to homes. Being located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, we cherish opportunities to share the rich culture of this region with our customers nationwide through artisans.

After being introduced to Louisiana native, Jane Adams and her brand Paprika Home, our founder, Colleen, fell in love with her fresh approach to floral patterned home textiles and began using them in her interior design projects. For the Fig & Dove Holiday 2022 collection, Colleen partnered with Jane to create two whimsical Christmas patterns for stockings and tree skirts.

Background

Born from the desire for flexibility while her children were young, Paprika Home began as ceramics and has blossomed into joyful home textiles.  Jane is self-taught and spent her early years drawing, experimenting with pen and ink, dabbling in watercolors, acrylics and pastels while dreaming of becoming a designer. Transitioning into home textiles was new and quite fascinating to Jane, with the various ways of printing and choices of fabric to print on. She experimented with hand block printing, looked into screen printing and settled on digital printing for its reliability, cost and sustainability. She says, “I truly believe that surrounding ourselves with colors and patterns that make us happy creates a sense of comfort in our homes.”

The guiding sentiment of Paprika Home is outlined by one of Jane’s favorite quotes from The Inspired Room, “Home should be life-giving and soul-refreshing, a soft spot to land on a hard day and a beautiful place to recharge and rejuvenate.”

Jane’s desire to create homes that feel warm, inviting, lived in and comforting stems from cherished childhood memories of time spent in her family's homes. Jane grew up in New Orleans, one block away from aunts, uncles and the church her parents were married in. To her, “family and home were one and the same.”

Christmas Traditions

Just as home is synonymous with family, to Jane, so is Christmas. Her cherished traditions include special moments spent with her family, enjoying each other as they celebrate the season. She shared that her favorite tradition is Christmas morning mimosas with her husband, which they have done every year since their marriage in 1982! To her, their mimosas are a lovely and fulfilling time before the bustle, to enjoy the tree's beauty with all the gifts wrapped beneath it and toast to another Christmas together. Jane's heart for the value of family and desire to design homes that are places to be shared and create memories made her the perfect artisan to create a part of the Fig & Dove Christmas collection with this year,

Paprika Home for Fig & Dove

The Paprika Home Collection offers two playful, colorful children's patterns to compliment the sophistication and elegance of Fig & Dove's original Christmas collection. The Ballet Slippers and Blue Drum patterns are available as stockings and small tree skirts. This unique collection is sure to be cherished for years to come as a part of your family’s Christmas traditions.
